  1. bypasses the System's copy-back disk cache for all writes
  2. to disk of 1K or greater. It also amortises the disk time
  3. over all the writes. On my Quadra 700, with a disk cache of
  4. 384K, this makes certain applications 25 times faster when
  5. they write to disk. This may not make much of a difference
  6. to people connecting over modem, but for people on
  7. Ethernet, it makes a huge difference.
